Robbed of Senses

This week in drama we played a game where had to walk around the drama studio with our eyes closed and as an ensemble we all had to stop walking and then continue to walk at the same time.
But why?!
The point of this game was to emphasize that actors on stage have to be aware of everything around them (set, other actors, cables ect) when performing. All the actors have to cooperate with one another to be safe on stage and to allow the performance to go to plan.
What did I find hard?
At first I found it extremely hard to walk around the space with my eyes closed and try and listen out for when other people stopped walking. I found this hard to do at the same time as I had been robbed of one of my senses so my other senses had to work extra hard- which is somewhat unnatural (this was shown very clearly when Harry walked straight into a door;-)). However, as time went on I got used to not being able to see and I was able to focus on the sound and sense whether people or objects were around me which I had a chance of bumping in to.
We also began brainstorming ideas on how to develop our performance by; lighting, sound, costume, space, dialogue, makeup etc.
We each had a chance to add to each of the brainstorms and next week we will look at them and begin picking out ideas we think will really work.
We also analysed the words; imitate, influence and inspire.
Imitate; take or follow as a modesl/copy (a person's speech or mannerisms), especially for comic effect/copy or simulate
Influence; the capacity to have an effect on the character, development, or behaviour of someone or something, or the effect itself/have an influence on
Inspire; fill (someone) with the urge or ability to do or feel something, especially to do something creative.
