First Week of IB drama

So this week we had our first ever IB drama lesson. I was unsure about my feelings towards it, as on the one hand I was excited to finally be doing something I loved but on the other hand I knew It would mean stepping out of my comfort zone a lot. In our first lesson we started  by playing a game called 'The Lava Floor' where we had to work as a team to make sure that the least amount of body parts were touching the floor in a certain amount of time. It was really fun and I kind of felt that it helped us to 'bond' a bit more as we had to cooperate with each other a lot. The second task was to create a freeze of what drama represented to us personally.
My freeze showed 'confidence' because that's what I feel drama means to me. I also feel that Drama has helped me gain confidence massively. Our final task was to create what drama means to us personally by using others in our group and creating a freeze frame. I found this really hard as I constantly felt like I needed to do it quickly because the other people were getting annoyed  or bored. Although in reality this wasn't true it was just me over thinking things.
In the end this was the freeze frame I came up with. Emma represents shyness and being reserved while Harry acts as a wall between her and me and Chloe, who represent being open and confident. I placed Emma further back from the front to show my feeling about being in the spotlight. Her low position shows shyness and her anxious face looking over at the others shows worrying about being judged. My freeze is supposed to represent how sometimes I feel there is wall between how I am and how I want to be in drama.

During the lesson we also had to pick which aspects of drama we enjoyed the most out of acting, creating, spectating and directing. I decided to go for directing as I really enjoy being creative and imaginative. I also like being able to see progress eg. starting with nothing and creating something. After this we had to pick what we disliked about drama, all the categories were the same except a new one was added in called dramaturge. I picked dramaturge as the idea of researching drama things doesn't really appeal to me as to be honest it sounds slightly boring.
